About

Meet Bernice Boyden

Certified Grief Educator and Coach · Founder, The Other Side of Grief™

Bernice Boyden is a Certified Grief Educator and Coach, Certified Executive Coach, HR and Employee Relations leader, consultant, educator, speaker, and founder of The Other Side of Grief™.

For more than 33 years, her professional life has been spent in Human Resources and Employee Relations, including Fortune 50 environments — work that placed her, again and again, in the room during people's most difficult moments. She is a certified executive coach and completed formal grief-coach certification. She earned her bachelor's degree in Human Resources and her master's degree in Education at Duquesne University.

After losing her 19-year-old son Alex to suicide, Bernice created The Other Side of Grief™ to support parents and improve grief literacy.

Her work rests on a conviction that runs against most of what grieving parents are told: no one should have to choose between remembering their child and continuing to live. Love can remain fully present while a parent discovers what living now asks of them.

Bernice is also the founder of The Boyden Group, LLC, a leadership and team consulting firm. Her flagship message is Love Beyond Goodbye, anchored by the P6 Pathway™ — Pause, Process, Permission, Preserve, Purpose, Proceed.

"You do not have to leave your child behind to move forward."

The P6 Pathway™

Six words a parent can hold onto on a hard day — and return to for years.

Pause

Create space before forcing action or answers.

Process

Acknowledge and make room for the realities of grief.

Permission

Let grief unfold without comparison, shame, or an imposed timeline.

Preserve

Honor love, memory, legacy, and continuing bonds.

Purpose

Explore meaning and what matters now, without erasing the loss.

Proceed

Live forward in a way that carries love rather than leaving it behind.
